Handgun Permits

All handgun permits are issued by the Office Of The Chief Of Police.

To be issued a gun permit the following steps are necessary:

1. Background check
This normally takes 5 working days. To begin this process you must complete the background check form and return it to the DeMotte Police Department.

2. State Application Form
After the background check is completed and approved by the Chief of Police you must then complete the State Handgun Permit Application. Upon completion you need to mail this form to the State Of Indiana for approval. Your handgun permit will be mailed to you within 4 to 6 weeks by the State.

3. Cost
Personal Protection Permits permits cost $25.00. $15.00 is payable to the State of Indiana and $10.00 is payable to the DeMotte Police Department.

Hunting and Target Permits cost $15.00. $5.00 is payable to the State of Indiana
and $10.00 is payable to the DeMotte Police Department.

Payments to the State of Indiana must be in the form of a Postal Money Order or
Certified Check.

Gun permits are issued Monday thru Friday from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
